GUTS World Tour Psychadelic Poster
Psychedelia-Inspired Concert Poster | Fall 2023
Used my understanding of the elements of the psychedelic visual style to create this poster. Includes hand-lettered typography, intricate lettering style, vibrant/bold colors, and detailed imagery. Integrated these elements with a contemporary musician.
Ideation: Composition Sketches and Lettering Practice
The first step in designing this poster was to come up with as many compelling compositions as I could imagine. Trying as many different ideas and angles is important to engage in divergent thinking. Designing the letterforms for this poster was a challenge because I had to make each letterform looked like it belonged with the others. Once I got into a groove with it, it became a lot easier.
Early Iterations
At first, I wanted to include a digitally illustrated figure; but it was challenging because I could not achieve the desired emotion. I decided to pivot, then, and use an image. The end result was so much better than I imagined.
Final Product
Seeing the final product printed at the actual size was good insight into how a design differs from the way it looks on a computer screen. The viewing experience on the computer screen versus printed makes all the difference.
